Stiernhööksgymnasiet is beautifully located by the shores of Lake Siljan and is a high school with approximately 500 students. It is a unique high school with proud traditions and a student body from all over Sweden. The school has a documented high goal fulfillment with very good educational quality. The school offers programs such as construction and civil engineering, economics, electrical and energy, natural resource management (with specializations in animal care, equestrian management, and agriculture), natural sciences, social sciences, as well as four introductory programs. The school also has adapted national programs for high school; forestry, land and animals, as well as property, construction, and building. Additionally, the school offers national sports education (NIU) in equestrian sports and bandy, as well as local sports education (LIU) in various sports. There is a student dormitory with over 130 accommodation places, and food production as part of the agricultural education. Parts of the production are served in the municipality's kitchens. Thus, Rättvik has Sweden's most locally produced school meals.

Job Description

In the role of instructor in the school's equestrian education, you will be part of a team of four instructors and six high school teachers, where we together shape the future horse caretakers.

This position includes all tasks related to the stable, such as daily care of horses, stable and facility maintenance, as well as training/education of the horses (e.g., riding/lunging/long lining/driving). The instructor group also works as pedagogical staff, primarily in the practical components included in the students' education, such as horse and stable care and horse handling. The position is a seasonal job with scheduled working hours Monday to Friday, and there may also be weekend and evening work on certain occasions.

Qualifications

Applicants should have education at the high school level or equivalent in the equestrian industry, as well as work experience. A horse caretaker diploma from the Swedish Equestrian Federation is desirable. It is an advantage if you have higher education, such as Hippologist, and/or previous experience in teaching and working with youth. You should be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written.

As a person, we want you to be proactive, responsible, and have a good ability to collaborate. You work solution-focused and have a pedagogical and safety-oriented approach.

Other

There are two temporary positions, one at 100% (about one year) and one at 80% (six months). Both with the possibility of extension. Selection and interviews may occur on an ongoing basis. At the time of the interview, a valid extract from the police criminal record, according to the Education Act, must be presented.
